Under the Income Tax Act (Canada), in order to qualify for tax reporting purposes, proper documentation is essential. TaxBack Certification ensures your contribution is properly documented and compliant with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements, so your support is both impactful and financially recognized.
When you donate to SunMoonSeed Foundation, a registered Canadian charity recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), you may be eligible to receive an official charitable donation receipt.
TaxBack Certification supports proper compliance by ensuring receipts meet CRA standards and that eligible amounts are calculated accurately, protecting both the donor and the organization.
Tax Considerations for Corporate and Individual Donors
For corporate donors:
Charitable contributions are generally claimed as deductions against taxable income on a T2 corporate income tax return. This reduces overall taxable income. Many organizations integrate charitable giving into ESG commitments, sustainability strategies, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
For individual donors:
Charitable gifts are claimed as non-refundable tax credits on a personal T1 return. Federal credits currently apply at:
- 15% on the first $200
- 29% on amounts above $200
- 33% on amounts above $200 for income taxed at the highest federal bracket
Provincial and territorial credits apply in addition to federal rates, often resulting in a meaningful reduction in total tax payable. Unused donations may be carried forward for up to five years.
